Amy presents strategies to attract girls to STEAM and coding activities in the classroom and beyond. It is well known that even today, females are under represented in the STEM fields. Women make up 50% of the population and 49% of the US work force, yet, they account for only 24% of the STEM workforce. With gender stereotypes about Math and Science developing as early as second grade, we need to start engaging girls from the start.
