In this session participants will start by looking at the winning entries for the 2016-2017 NH Digital Map Contest for middle (4-8) and high school (9-12) students. This competition is designed to encourage students to create and share maps about something in their home states and to analyze, interpret, and present data. After you've looked at entries from last year's inaugural competition, you'll learn how students can create digital maps using Arcgis.com online mapping software and participate in this year's competition"with the possibility to earn both monetary awards and possibly even a trip to San Diego to present at the Esri Education Conference. We will demonstrate simple map-making techniques and how to create more exciting "Map Journals", "Map Tours" and "Swipes". Teachers interested in introducing their students to interactive online mapping tools are encouraged to attend. No previous experience necessary!
